It’s that time of year again- assessments are in, exams are over- time to party and carve up the dance floor at the UniBar’s End of Exams Party!

This session Wollongong UniBar is excited to welcome back the Purple Sneakers DJs as the headline act. The Purple Sneakers DJs, fronted by PhDJ (aka Martin Novosel), lead a new school of Australian DJs who insist on taking a dance DJ approach to mixing album edits and singles rather than traditional and somewhat typical extended club re-mixes. “Rather than a deep electro or minimal house beat the onus is on a pure pop appeal of whatever genre I want- it doesn’t matter whether it’s indie, girl-pop, Baltimore, hip hop, rock, baile funk, electro, punk or just any popular tune from the last 40 years,” says Novosel. Put simply, “It’s just party music!!”

The emphasis on ‘party’ has seen PhDJ become the highest profile indie DJ in Sydney. His club, Purple Sneakers, which started at the Abercrombie Hotel in Sydney a little more than 4 years ago, has now become one of the biggest weekly indie clubs in Australia.

Stylistically, the flexibility of Purple Sneakers is demonstrated by the support and festival bills they’ve featured on. Over the last 12 months, Purple Sneakers DJs have warmed up for the likes of Le Tigre (USA), Ian Brown (UK), Death Cab For Cutie (USA), Lily Allen (UK), The Preset (Australia), !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and Block Party, to name a few. In addition to this they’ve presented and played at festivals- Splendour in the Grass, Future Music Festival, The Great Escape, Falls Festival, Big Day Out and touring nationally with Parklife Festival 2009.

End of Exams has gained a reputation for being one of the biggest nights at the UniBar for a reason- buy your tickets now to avoid missing out!

UniBar is located at Northfields Avenue, Building 10, Wollongong (Central to the University of Wollongong).

The FREE Arrive Alive shuttle bus will be there to get you safely to where you need to go after the show. The bus departs from Northfields Avenue between 10:30pm-12:30am stopping at North Wollongong Station, Weerona College, Campus East, I-House and in Wollongong CBD for those ready to kick on.
