INTRO CD 2007
A fresh new year begins with a fresh new compilation of songs. 'Intro 2007' is thus here to accompany us through the highs and lows of 2007.
This CD compilation rakes in a variety of different artists, with most songs featured having stand out beats and tunes. They are songs which have been hand-picked out of the vast music industry, to introduce 2007 to a number of hidden artists. The opening song Suffer for Fashion is easily digestible and completely delectable. It has an upbeat and spirited vibe, with a catchy tune that invokes singing within seconds of listening.
Rahim's 10,000 Horses is another highlight, with a steady tune and a constant back beat which personifies the rhythmic idea of powerful and graceful horses, as well as serving to enhance the male vocals. Guy Sigworth's remix of Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn's song La Familia is also one of the exceptional songs that feature in this album. It creates a 'floetic' tune which becomes an addiction to listen to. Sigworth has worked with many well-known names, including Imogen Heap, Kate Havnevik, Jem and Björk, and this particular remix featured certainly lives up to these standards. Mirah's vocals are expressive and gentle, portraying an innocent and naive air which adds meaning to its lyrics.
Did I sleep on your trumpet and I like Giants are others which follow in having a rhythmic tune, and of which are unique compositions with a light hearted, humorous approach.
White Light/White Light and Mammal Beats are unfortunately two of the titles in the compilation which were a mess of chaotic beats, with undecipherable lyrics, songs which did not 'float my boat' - however that's not to say others won't enjoy them.
Overall 'Intro 2007' makes a dynamic mixture of alternative music, bringing together a range of artists from different genres to satisfy a hungry audience. It certainly provides a fine substitute for the 'pop' songs we hear on a day-to-day basis. It's a CD with a good set of background tunes to liven any dull moment.
