The Illawarra Region lies just an hour south of Sydney, stretching from the Royal National Park to the Shoalhaven River, encompassing the City of Wollongong.

The University of Wollongong is located 3km from the centre of town. The campus combines a tranquil bushland setting with modern, state-of-the-art facilities. UOW's Innovation Campus is currently under development on 33 seaside hectares just to the north of the Wollongong CBD.  Its landscape and infrastructure are distinguished by the latest in high tech and sustainable design.

UOW’s technical community look forward to showcasing both campuses and other beautiful features of the Illawarra at the 2008 National TechNet Conference, as they continue in the fine TechNet tradition of providing a relaxed and fun opportunity for serious professional development.
