8th UNDERGROUND COAL
OPERATORS CONFERENCE
14-15 February 2008

COAL2008 will be held over two days in February 2008 at the University of Wollongong. The Conference is organised jointly by Illawarra Branch of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, with The University of Wollongong, and Mine Managers Association of Australia.
The theme of COAL2008 is “towards improvement in production with safety. The Conference will address various issues related to improvement in mine production, productivity and safety, both in surface and underground mining operations. Accordingly, abstracts are invited from the flowing topics:
- heading development, bord and pillar mining, longwall method.
- Geotechnical issues and mine control, instrumentation, rock bolting, mine subsidence, strata management
- Mine ventilation, mine gas drainage and outburst control, mine fires and control, Mine dust and control, and risk management
- Mine management and mine contract
The conference is to be followed on the afternoon of the day two with a half day symposium organised by the Mine Managers association of Australia. The seminar will be immediately followed by a half day programme of the coal conference. Issues discussed, include, amongst
