UOW International Student Volunteers
International Student Volunteers (ISV) is an international organisation that offers students the opportunity to make a difference and travel with a purpose. ISV offers participants the hands-on experience of working in a local community in their country of choice, as well as exciting adventure travel around their hosting country.
The UOW ISV Club is open to anyone who is interested in other cultures, travel and networking, whether they want to participate in the programs available or simply broaden their horizons. As a Club on campus, we aim to spread the word about ISV, encourage and assist people to participate in the program, as well as inform and educate students and the public of the global community.
During the standard four-week program, participants spend two weeks volunteering in a local community. This includes work such as:
- Community Development and Construction
- Wildlife Conservation
- Children’s Programs
- Scientific Research Projects
- Indigenous Community Projects
- Habitat Restoration and Forest Regeneration
- Wild Animal Rescue
Participants then spend the following two weeks travelling around the country on adventure tours with activities that could include:
- White Water Rafting
- Snorkelling and Scuba Diving
- Glacier Climbing
- Hiking
- Horse Riding
- Canyoning and Abseiling
- Cultural and City Exploration
- Boating
ISV are currently offering Australian participants the opportunity to travel in their summer break to either:
- Thailand
- Costa Rica
- South Africa, or
- New Zealand
