UOW Japanese Society (Matsuri)

UoW Matsuri – Japanese Society is a new society and is run by University students seeking to promote the Japanese culture into the Wollongong University community. We aim to give back as much value to our members by providing a support network to present and future students, culture workshops, conversation classes and different social events throughout the year.

Aims & Objectives of the Society:

- To promote the Japanese culture to the wider university community

- To bring together Japanese students and interested students in Japan’s culture, people, way of life or Japan in general through activities, events and workshops

- To assist and provide a support network to present and future students

Interesting fact: Matsuri (祭) is the Japanese word for festival and within Japan are usually sponsored by shrines or temples. It is associated with fun entertainment and is enjoyed by many Japanese people who attend.
