Live a life less ordinary

Big Fish is a new and exciting personal development program open to all UOW students. The CSE will be running Big Fish for the first time as a pilot in Spring Session 09. It starts in Week 2 and runs for 12 weeks.

Why should I participate?

  • Develop practical skills to use in your personal life and your career
  • Meet and connect with other likeminded UOW students
  • Make a positive impact on your world
  • Set yourself apart
  • Ignite your leadership impact

Do I get a certificate?

Sure you will, as long as you:

  • Participate in a minimum of 5 workshops
  • Attend a minimum of 2 debrief sessions
  • Complete a minimum of 3 hours volunteer work

Your certificate and transcript will be a detailed outline of the workshops and debrief sessions you attended and the kind and duration of your community service contribution.

How much does it cost?

Program costs are $120, which is just $10 per week. A great investment in your future.

What is included in the price?

  • 7 interactive workshops & guest speakers
  • 3 debrief sessions to share your experiences and ask yourself: “How do the workshops apply to me?”
  • 2 social events. One to meet all other participants at the start of the program and one to celebrate your achievements at the then.

Download the detailed program outline.

How do I find out about the debrief sessions and how do I sign up?

Depending on the total number of program participants 5 – 10 debrief sessions will be offered on different days and at different times during Week 4, 6 and 9. At the Welcome Day you can sign up for a session that takes place at a time that you are available. A maximum of 10 spots is available for every session.

If you cannot attend the Welcome Day CSE will email you a list of the sessions that still have spots available.

How do I sign up?

Registration forms are available at the Unishop Ticket Sales window, the CSE Office or you can download and print out the brochure. Fill out the registration form and take it together with your payment to the Unishop Ticket Sales window.

When does registration close?

Registration closes on Friday Week 2, which is the 7th August 2009.

What does it mean "it's a pilot"?

The Centre for Student Engagement is piloting the program in spring session 09, which means this is the first time it is being run. We would like to invite all participants to be part of the ongoing evaluation that will be conducted throughout the 12 weeks.
